Washington, D.C. Family Church Celebrates Christmas
On December 24, the Washington, D.C. Family Church celebrated Christmas Eve and Christmas at the Washington Times Ballroom with 200 attendees, half of which were guests. The program focused on testifying to True Parents and sharing the Blessing with the Christian community.
Dr. Achille Acolatse, Pastor of Washington, D.C. Family Church, emceed the program which opened with a prayer and was followed by a dinner that was graciously prepared by sisters of the Washington, D.C. Family Church. The Children’s Choir then performed the classic Christmas carol song “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” and a song about global unity called “Where Peace Begins.” Rev. Dr. Sharon Anderson from the megachurch Temple of Praise in Washington, D.C. and Evangelist Tokubo Shomide of the Celestial Church of Christ each gave wonderful and motivating remarks about the spirit of Christmas.
After Mr. Tom McDevitt, Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Washington Times, shared about True Mother’s heart and explained God’s providence centered on True Parents, Dr. Michael Jenkins, Co-Chairman of the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC), illuminated the meaning of the Blessing and together with Minister Reiko Jenkins, National Coordinator for ACLC Women in Ministry, officiated the Blessing for all the couples who were present.
Bishop Martin Webb, the head of the American Diocese of the Celestial Church of Christ, gave a congratulatory remark followed by the appointment of five new Ambassadors for Peace led by Mr. McDevitt. A candlelit prayer took place afterwards to pray for America to fulfill its responsibility as the elder son nation.
The program ended with entertainment by the children of the Washington, D.C. Family Church, a song by Unchisa Pena, gifts for the young children and a benediction by Dr. Jenkins.
