True Parents’ 55th Holy Wedding Anniversary

True Parents’ Holy Wedding was held on March 16, 1960, according to the lunar calendar (or April 11, 1960 by the solar calendar), at the Cheongpa-dong church in Seoul.

Today, Monday May 4, 2015 (March 16 in the 3rd Year of Cheon Il Guk by the Heavenly Calendar) marks the 55th Anniversary of True Parents’ Holy Wedding. This was a momentous day for the world, as we now had True Parents who recreated the original God-centered ideal couple that Adam and Eve were meant to be, and guided the way forward to change the world. Today, as a nation and global community, we all celebrate True Parents’ groundbreaking mission and with immense gratitude we wish our True Father and True Mother a happy anniversary!

In the Cham Bumo Gyeong, the soon-to-be published third book of the Heavenly Scriptures, a great deal of attention is given to this anniversary and the wedding of True Parents, which is indeed none other than the Marriage of the Lamb referred to in Revelations 19:7-9

Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints … Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!

For centuries, Christian believers only partially understood this scripture, thinking that the Bride referred only to the Church. No one understood that the very core of our Heavenly Parent’s providence was to restore the mistake of Adam and Eve, our first human ancestors, in the person of True Parents, True Father and True Mother. In the Cham Bumo Gyeong, True Father makes this point clear several times:

Do you know whom the Bride and the Holy Spirit refer to? The Bride refers to the Lord’s wife. The Holy Spirit is only a spiritual being; therefore, the Mother needs to appear who has both spirit and flesh. Jesus the Father of humankind is a man, so the Mother of humankind must be found among women. When she is found, together they will save all humankind by guiding them to a new world. (021-050, 1968.09.01)

One of the ways that True Father and True Mother liked to celebrate their Holy Wedding, was through the Peace King Cup annual fishing tournament on the Hudson. This year, we will go out from May 8 to May 15 with prize giving on May 16. I’m happy to say that it looks like it will be a record year—already one of our captains has caught a 40 inch striped bass, larger than last year’s winner!

As we continue to pray for our True Mother’s speaking tour in Europe and her upcoming visit to the United States, let us again give thanks to God that we have the great blessing of knowing our True Parents. We are indeed blessed to have been called to that Marriage Supper!
