Resurrected by Denver Family Church Co-Pastors
Canadian native and High Noon staff member Andrew Love and his family found Denver, Colorado a nice place to call a temporary home. Unfortunately, they were challenged with a roadblock when they were denied access to board an airplane to Malaysia. In complete destitution, Love contacted Denver Family Church co-pastor Michael Hentrich for help and resurrection. This is his story.
Two weeks ago Mike and Adonia Hentrich of the Colorado Family Church lifted us from destitution to total resurrection.
In the very early morning of January 13, my family arrived at the Denver airport ready to board a plane to Malaysia. We had been preparing for this journey for months and fit almost all of our worldly possessions into four suitcases. We got rid of our car and put the remainder of our belongings into storage, leaving us with little substantial connection to America.
As we were about to board our flight that morning at 5:00 a.m., we were denied. The airline’s explanation for denying us was not clear, and in the end we were simply not allowed on the flight that we paid for. Rejected and defeated, we were left with our three little children, a bunch of suitcases, no home, no car, and essentially no hope.
At 6:00 a.m. I called Pastor Mike Hentrich, who answered sleepily, but without any judgement in his voice. In a soft, small voice, I told him about our predicament, and he promptly said he would come pick us up right away.
Without discussing where we would go, he drove us back to the parsonage where he lived. On top of all our struggles, one of our children was developing a fever, but that didn’t evade Pastor Mike from welcoming us into his home. Every one of our three young children developed high fevers that same day, passing on the symptoms to the Hentrichs’ youngest child as well.
We spent the next two weeks in the basement of their home. They warmly accepted us, lovingly providing us with delicious food while we figured out our next move. I saw God’s hand working because we went from a place of destitution to total resurrection. Now we are healthier than ever before after reaching peak sickness as a family. We booked a new flight with help from the Hentrich family, and our insurance is providing us with a full refund for our original tickets!
It was as if we pressed the reset button on the whole situation. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that just two weeks ago we were in an unbridgeable, unbearable conundrum that we couldn’t resolve on our own. We needed somebody to come to our rescue. Being an extremely independent person, I prefer to be the one to provide for my family and anybody we come in contact with, but as any one person does, I have my own limitations. When I called Mike, I was overwhelmed by my own limitations. The generosity and warmth offered to our family at that time graced us with the strength to rebound stronger and better than ever.
In the end, postponing our flight was a massive blessing in disguise because our children were sicker than we knew. Their symptoms would have revealed themselves on our twelve-and-a-half hour flight and it would have been a disaster. I also don’t know if we would have bounced back with such strength had we stayed somewhere else. The love, support, space, and time we were given helped God work miracles.
Now we can resume our trip and also finish far more than we had originally planned. My wife and I are both immigrants to this country, so we don’t have any physical family nearby; however, this experience has shown me that spiritual blood runs just as thick when practiced effectively.
It’s incredibly important to recognize the small miracles which remind us that Heavenly Parent can work through all people and situations. Mike and Adonia Hentrich were just the family we needed. They never questioned or judged us for how we got ourselves into such a messy situation. This is the essence of God: they offered us love, shelter and support so we could pick up the pieces. They exemplified true leadership by simply giving for the sake of loving, and for that, we are eternally grateful.

It is wonderful to know we have strong leadership in Colorado – I set in place a holy ground in Sterling Colo. a place where my grandparents farmed from the early 1900s as German speaking Russian immigrants and with 12 children spread their seed pretty well

I met Mike when I was at the recent Cranes Club event in Vegas. He impressed me as a deep hearted sincere young man, a shining light. So…I’m not at all surprised by this story. True love action…in action.
