Regional Updates from Around the Country

At the weekly Zoom Call meeting with Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) USA leaders on March 24, regional directors gave comforting updates on how communities are handling the coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic nationwide. Stay safe and keep up-to-date with the latest information provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to protect yourself and others from the spread of COVID-19.

President of FFWPU-USA and Northeast Subregional Director Rev. Demian Dunkley introduced an initiative to reach out and contact local Unificationist families to ask how they are doing concerning their health, finances and Offering Table goals during this uncertain time. Rev. Dunkley encouraged leaders to see this as a great opportunity to call each individual family and to establish the new culture of heart.

Rev. Ernest Patton, FFWPU-USA Southeast Subregional Director, and his wife are calling individual families on the phone and through Zoom Call to stay connected and updated. Rev. Patton stated that this is the chance to reevaluate ourselves and is a great opportunity for God to restructure our lives. It is also a time for people’s hearts to be more open to building strong families through online Tribal Messiahship meetings.

Rev. David Rendel, FFWPU-USA Midwest Subregional Director, reported an American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) online prayer call which welcomed 74 people. Pastors shared with each other about taking this time to get closer to God and each other, and to find ways to improve ourselves. “This has proven to be a time of transition,” said Rev. Rendel. “Heaven can work through this experience.”

FFWPU-USA Southwest Subregional Director Rev. John Jackson shared about the youth outreach in the Southwest and how 97 people are studying the Divine Principle every day, and have even held a Divine Principle lecture competition. Rev. Jackson recalled one young sister who poured out her heart in her lecture. “She started speking the words of God into our hearts from her heart,” Rev. Jackson said. To this, Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, regional chairman of FFWPU North America, encouraged an online Divine Principle lecture training program to be designed where pastors and second-generation Unificationists would give the lectures.

Rev. Larry Krishnek, West Subregional Director, talked about how this time of uncertainty is a time to get closer with your family and community and how the leaders are reaching out to all communities. The four Japanese missionaries staying in Los Angeles have been studying the Divine Principle every day online, and teaching their guests through Zoom.
