‘Power, Love and A Sound Mind:’ ACLC Hosts Prayer Breakfast in Brooklyn
With one of the largest Peace Starts With Me rallies right around the corner, the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) hosted a special prayer breakfast in Brooklyn, New York, in support of the upcoming event. This latest prayer breakfast, held on Saturday, December 7, is one of a series of prayer breakfasts bringing together an interfaith community just before the rally. “We, as clergy, are the ones who understand God’s providence,” said Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, regional chairman of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) North America, which co-sponsors the rally. “And not only do we understand, we are teaching Jesus’s love and healing one another.”
More than 300 faith leaders, Unificationists, and guests gathered in the beautifully adorned Grand Prospect Hall, eager with anticipation and a joyful spirit. Speakers shared their heartfelt commitment toward fulfilling the vision FFWPU co-founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, affectionately known as the Mother of Peace, as she tirelessly works to continue the peacebuilding legacy of her late husband and FFWPU co-founder Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon.

The program featured words of wisdom from various speakers, including Dr. Kim, who shared about the essence of true love. “We must love our enemies more than we love our own sons and daughters,” he said. “That is true love.” Dr. Kim compared true love to Jesus’s love, who had sacrificed himself for the sake of others.
Keynote speaker Rev. Lawrence Aker III, senior pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Brooklyn, also spoke, sharing that fear should not stop anyone from staying on God’s course because fear derives from Satan. “Satan wants us to have fear,” said Rev. Aker. “He wants us to run from peace. But God gives us the power to overcome that fear.” He declared that although we may fall off course, and we might hit a wall, we can persevere and stay the course with ‘power, love, and a sound mind.’
In a powerful benediction, ACLC National Co-Chairman Dr. Luonne Rouse shared that Dr. Moon is a leader of true love who joins people from all over the world to work toward global peace and reconciliation. FFWPU-USA President Rev. Demian Dunkley then urged guests to sign up for the rally, happening on Saturday, December 28, and asked everyone to invite their family and friends.
The next prayer breakfast will take place on Saturday, December 14 at the Robert Treat Hotel in Newark, New Jersey at 8:30 a.m. For more information of the Peace Starts With Me rally, or to get involved, click here.
