Local Artists Cultivate Creativity at Clifton Family Church
The second annual Fine Arts Performance and Festival was held at the Clifton Family Church on Saturday, May 4. After considerable preparation, 17 artists from the Clifton community came together to create a phenomenal exhibition of fine art, crafts, music, and dance. This event was powerful for all involved, as it offered an opportunity for amateur and professional local artists to showcase their unique creations to the Clifton community.
The festival was orchestrated by Etsuko Kaneko, Minobu Sato, and Sunmarie Burns. Participating artists displayed a variety of their crafts, including quilted tapestries, fashion design, Ikebana flower arranging, oil, watercolor paintings, handmade cards, cartooning, woodworking, jewelry, decorated ornamental eggs, photography and more. Visitors met with the artists and shopped at their booths.
The festival also featured musical and dance performances by traditional Japanese dancers, G.L.A.D, a second-generation k-pop dance troop, and pianist Shinichi Watanabe. Visitors could also compete in a chess tournament, relax at the massage station, enjoy food purchased from vendors and visit the LEDA project fundraiser table.
Many of the participating artists expressed their joy in taking part in an event where they could inspire one another with creativity, and attendees were astonished by the richness of talent.
Reflecting on the experience, Mrs. Burns said, “We hope to grow the event even bigger and reach out to the extended Clifton community to build relationships with other local artists and talented individuals in order to make it a truly uplifting outreach project.”

It’s so nice to see the talent on display here! One problem I have with this website, however, is that the photos scroll by automatically — too fast. I would like to stop the scrolling and study the artwork more closely. Is there a way to do that on my end? If not, I wish the webmasters could allow for that. Thanks.
