The year 2020 marks the beginning of a new chapter and a new seven-year course in God’s providence. Looking ahead, faith leaders of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) USA are focusing on its roots in Christianity and the Holy Spirit. FFWPU is a brand of the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity (HSA-UWC), which was co-founded by Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, both affectionately known as True Parents. This year, FFWPU-USA leaders are zeroing in on the founders’ mission to unite world Christianity and humankind as one family under God.
“True Father chose the name Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity because so many churches were being persecuted,” said FFWPU Regional Chairman of North America Dr. Ki Hoon Kim. “With this name, people will understand his mission to unite.” Dr. Kim shared the significance of the Unification movement’s name during a weekly morning meeting with FFWPU-USA leaders on March 3 in New York City.
“True Father founded this movement to go beyond the Christian foundation and era,” said Dr. Kim. “More than anything we have to go back to our Divine Principle workshops to bring unity to world Christianity.” The Divine Principle, which is the main teachings of the Unification movement and derives from the Bible, was authored by Rev. Moon after a spiritual experience with Jesus and divine revelations from God. Dr. Kim emphasized its importance in educating Christian clergy about True Parents’ mission to unite Christianity and humankind, thereby creating the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth.
A core part of the Divine Principle workshop’s content shares about God as our Heavenly Parent and humankind as His children, among other insights. But Dr. Kim said educating the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) guests to understand True Parents as the Second Coming of the Messiah and True Mother as the Only Begotten Daughter is essential to their true grasp of the teachings. “This is God’s Will,” said Dr. Kim. “Don’t think about your limitations.”
Rev. Moon often spoke about uniting Christianity through teaching God’s truth—the Divine Principle—and practicing true love by living for the sake of others. Dr. Moon has tirelessly continued her late husband’s legacy of peacebuilding, including efforts to bring together all Christian denominations through the new World Clergy Leadership Conference (WCLC) launched in December 2019, and more recently the World Summit in Korea in February 2020.
“The quality of the Divine Principle workshop’s education needs to be even better, as best as possible,” said FFWPU-USA President Rev. Demian Dunkley. “We don’t need to create new content, the Divine Principle is what brought us all here.” He encouraged everyone to be confident as the leaders prepare for more workshops. More than 40 ACLC participants attended a recent ‘Chosen’ 7-day Divine Principle workshop in Las Vegas. The upcoming Chosen workshops in March and April aim to bring 40 new clergy each. “Let’s have our guests join us as True Parents’ sons and daughters and give them a transformational experience,” said Rev. Dunkley.
All FFWPU-USA subregional directors will offer Divine Principle workshops in every state for ACLC guests. An ACLC anniversary event with 172 clergy is scheduled for May in Korea.
