Famicon 2020 Kicks Off With Hundreds Of Guests

The national Famicon conference has begun! More than 200 people, including Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) USA leaders and their guests, gathered at the International Peace Education Center (IPEC) in Las Vegas on February 24 for the three-day program. The conference is an opportunity to celebrate the successful events of 2019 while devising a national plan for restoring America to God in 2020.
“We are here to celebrate God and True Parents’ victory,” said FFWPU-USA President Rev. Demian Dunkley. FFWPU co-founders Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and his wife Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon are affectionately referred to as True Parents by Unificationists. “America has fulfilled its responsibility and has brought victory,” said Rev. Dunkley. “We can claim all of the Peace Starts With Me events as victories.”
Rev. Dunkley introduced the main objective of Famicon 2020 through the theme ‘America Leading.’ “Through this event, we have to understand our goals as leaders for this year, and we have to be committed to leading America,” he said. Rev. Dunkley described the most important characteristics of a leader as having the courage to proclaim themselves as a leader, and to be able to create a culture of heart and then increase that culture of heart.
Kaeleigh Moffitt, FFWPU-USA national director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry (YAYAM), emceed Famicon and introduced the speakers and program sessions, which covered topics such as Claiming America’s Victory, Being Proud of America’s Offering and Celebrating Heaven.
Regional Chairman of Family Federation North America Dr. Ki Hoon Kim discussed the importance of inheriting from True Parents’ investments across America. “We can’t imagine how much True Parents have suffered and invested into this God-blessed country,” said Dr. Kim. “They’ve invested true love with their blood, sweat and tears to build the victorious foundation we are standing on.” He congratulated FFWPU for launching the World Clergy Leadership Conference (WCLC), which True Mother said will secure the victory of Christianity and build a Heavenly Unified World.
Dr. Michael Jenkins, president of Universal Peace Federation (UPF) International, shared an enthralling presentation on the World Summit 2020 in Korea. “The World Summit brings together all the elements of the Unification movement with the world,” said Dr. Jenkins. The three ideals of the Summit were interdependence, mutual prosperity and universal values, all deriving from True Parents’ teachings in the Divine Principle.
Participants shared together in songs of praise and worship, discussions over meals, tearful testimonies, and a musical performance of “Man of Constant Sorrow” by the FFWPU Subregional Directors, followed with a performance by Dr. Kim singing his favorite song, 난정말 몰랐었네 (Nanjeongmal Mollass-eossne).
