Detroit Family Church Hosts True Family Values Banquet
The Detroit Family Church hosted its 2019 American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) True Family Values Banquet & Awards Ceremony on Saturday, April 13. Over 80 clergy and other civic and community guests gathered to enjoy a ceremony celebrating ACLC’s family-centered community outreach in Warren, Michigan.
The event began with a colorful international meal, followed by greetings from Warren City Councilman Keith Sadowski and Council President Cecil St. Pierre. The banquet was held in part to welcome the new national ACLC Co-Chair, Dr. Luonne Rouse. Dr. Rouse spoke briefly, encouraging couples to “live for each other and be a blessing to others in their lives.”
Proceeding an inspired musical intermission, an award was presented to Bishop John Jones, founder of St. John Tabernacle Church, for the promotion of marriage and family through his two novels, So You Want to Date My Daughter and It Started with a Look. Imam Muhammed Elahi received an award for promoting marriage and family through his website, which he designed to help Muslim youth prepare for marriage and find their spouses. Mayor of Warren, James Fouts, sent a letter of congratulations to the awardees and ACLC for hosting this “pro-community event.”
