Cheon Il Guk: The New Great Awakening
The National Ministry Team of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) USA gathered at The New Yorker hotel on October 9 for their monthly meeting to discuss new initiatives and uniting as a nation to prepare for the upcoming Peace Starts With Me Gala featuring “The Mother of Peace,” Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, co-founder of FFWPU.
Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, regional chairman of Family Federation North America, stated that the commitment of leaders is the key to success. He gave a presentation on Dr. Moon’s worldwide speaking and Blessing tour, where she visited São Tomé and Príncipe, Gang Neung, Korea, and most recently, Nagoya, Japan. She will travel to many more countries in the coming months, including Cambodia, Taiwan and South Africa, to name a few, before returning to America in December. “America must go forward,” said Dr. Kim. “If we move forward only thinking of ourselves, we will not succeed. If we move forward for the sake of others and for the sake of the world, we will advance.”
Dr. Kim shared a clip of Dr. Moon’s message at the Japan Summit. “She is traveling around the world,” added Dr. Kim. “She said ‘I will go forward around the world and finalize and fulfill God’s dream here in America.’ How can we bring unity? The only way is when we unite with True Parents and practice true love.” True Parents is an affectionate term used by Unificationists when referring to Dr. Moon and her late husband Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon. Dr. Kim also mentioned the Sunhak Peace Prize Laureates 2020 winners, which were announced during the Japan Summit.
Dr. Michael Jenkins, chairman of Universal Peace Federation (UPF) USA, gave a rundown on the success of the Japan Summit, where several important politicians and congressmen attended.
FFWPU USA President Rev. Demian Dunkley encouraged everyone to go all in for the December 28 Peace Starts With Me Gala through contributing to the National Victory Fund, participating in Hoon Dok Hwe (daily study of scripture) with Godible, and through Tribal Messiahship. Rev. Dunkley shared a reflection from a young Unificationist, who wrote that unity equals happiness and that we must commit 100% and not just 99% to unite Christianity and America, the overall vision of Dr. Moon.
“I want to bring us back home to the incredible breakthroughs we are contributing to. What can we do to make the unimaginable happen?” said Rev. Dunkley. “With each one of these devotional commitments we prepare for True Mother, we will bring a great victory. Everyone will be blown away. Everything you and I do leading up to that will contribute to that victory.”
Archbishop George Augustus Stallings, Jr., chairman of the International Association for Peace and Development (IAPD), who spoke on behalf of Dr. Luonne Rouse, national co-chairman of the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC), emphasized the ACLC’s dedication in working with Dr. Moon to unite Christianity throughout the world. “That’s what it boils down to, relationships,” said Archbishop Stallings. “We must grow in that deep abiding relationship with True Parents, not only to understand them, but to deeply connect to their calling so we can be all in.”
He also announced upcoming events, including the launching of the Young Clergy Leadership Conference (YCLC), which will precede the Peace Starts With Me Gala on December 28, under the theme “Taking A Stand for Our Generation.” The gala will feature the inauguration of the World Clergy Leadership Conference (WCLC), and the Korean Clergy Leadership Conference (KCLC) will be launched at the end of October. “We [ACLC] are all in for this providential work,” concluded Archbishop Stallings. “The era of Cheon Il Guk (God’s Kingdom of Eternal Peace) is now, we are in the great awakening.”
Margaret Repke, Finance and Operations manager of Generation Peace Academy (GPA), introduced the new and improved Cheon Il Guk (CIG) missionary initiative, including a new core youth staff and a new education plan that will focus on three main areas; the Divine Principle, outreach and Christianity. Also, the CIG team will now be open to college students. “This is a huge new opportunity to get college students engaged in our outreach efforts,” said Naokimi Ushiroda. “One of the greatest prides of Dr. Kim, and us here in America, is that American youth are going out to serve the world.” Mr. Ushiroda was recently appointed assistant pastor of Clifton Family Church and director of outreach in New Jersey.
Kaeleigh Moffitt, who was just appointed the new director of Youth and Young Adult Ministry (YAYAM), introduced the new Empower Hour, a weekly video call meeting taking place on Mondays at 9:00 p.m. EST, with a different topic of discussion each week. The first Empower Hour meeting, “Pulse of the Providence,” was held on October 7, and had over 100 participants. “There’s a rumbling happening, there’s an excitement happening,” said Mrs. Moffitt. “There is so much going on every day, it’s hard to keep track.”
