Subregions Reflect on Bridging the Gap
Monday, July 23 was day five of the seven-day Hyojeong Divine Principle Conference. Each subregion has been splitting into teams throughout the breaks and meal times to engage in group discussion and reflection. All five subregional directors chimed in with their groups to listen and share some of their wisdom.
Many participants have studied the Divine Principle previously, however, it has been said that Rev. Soichiro Nakamura’s lectures have taught them a lot of new material. Midwest Subregional Director Rev. David Rendel said, “One gentleman in my subregion had been studying the Principle for 42 years, and just yesterday he finally began to understand the heart of Jesus.” Even the subregional directors themselves were learning new things. Southwest Subregional Director Rev. John Jackson “never knew True Mother did a seven-year fishing condition.” The lectures contained so much detailed content that every participant could learn something about the Divine Principle and True Parents’ course that they never knew before.
“After this morning’s Hoon Dok Hwe, I really felt the heart of gratitude. I started the think about the things that I’m grateful for. I’m grateful for Rev. Nakamura’s lectures because he truly captures the essence of young Unificationists’ hearts. I never imagined our parents’ generation could fully understand young Unificationists. Rev. Nakamura has bridged the gap between us, and I am grateful to know someone who understands our struggles and can explain it to first generation Unificationists.” –Senji Yee, Chicago, IL, 26 Subregion 3
“This is a great opportunity to understand what the Marriage Blessing is about and creating a momentum of giving to others and welcoming anyone we can educate and embrace. The first generation Unificationists have so much wisdom that we want to give, and I’m grateful Rev. Nakamura mentioned that in his lectures. I now have a deeper desire to want to teach with the depth and heart of Rev. Nakamura. We must share this content with others in order to inherit the heart of True Parents.” –Rev. Dr. Linda Lucero Nishikawa, Gresham, Oregon, 61, Subregion 5
“Normally, I don’t attend these workshops because I’m usually busy with work. My motivation for coming was to learn more about the matching and Marriage Blessing. I realized that I was ignorant to think I was qualified to receive the Marriage Blessing before fully understanding it. After Rev. Nakamura went through the Marriage Blessing vows, I understood just how much our parents have done for us and everything they have sacrificed for us, and I felt so sorry that I hadn’t been a better daughter.” –Naomi Ito, Indianapolis, IN, 25, Subregion 3
