About Chil Il Jeol
At the ceremony True Father prayed, “I have designated this day, the first day of July, to be the one on which we can apply and declare ourselves to be tribal messiahs across the world.” He said that Unificationist families no longer belong to any nationality but are members of True Parents’ global family. He advised Unificationists to create a new spiritual attitude and train themselves to overcome their personal obstacles in working on outreach with their hometown communities.
The significance of the speech is underscored by the recent guidance from True Mother regarding pursuit of Tribal Messiahship by Unificationists worldwide as part of the Vision 2020 project.
On July 1, 1991 True Father urged all Unificationists to declare themselves Tribal Messiahs, and to minister to close relatives, friends and neighbors who would be potential members of his or her tribe.
The term, Tribal Messiahship, often referred to as one’s personal ministry, is the umbrella term for a wide range of personal initiatives launched by Unificationists and their families to share True Parents’ teachings, vision, and the Marriage Blessing Ceremony. For many, tribal leadership entails contacting all of one’s relatives and giving them copies of True Father’s autobiography, or may involve creating service clubs to assist neighbors to solve a common problem. Whatever the activity, it establishes the outreach team or individual as a messiah in their personal sphere of influence, which contributes to True Father’s vision, mentioned often in the early 1970s that everyone would become messiahs to communities of their own disciples.
