Maryland Testimonies

“It is such an honor to receive this award. I am deeply appreciative to True Parents, True Father, and True Mother. Ever since I was little, I knew that music was very important to me. Because I have had such wonderful parents that have always encouraged me, great teachers to guide me, and a supportive community, I have been successful, thus far, in my pursuit of a professional career in music, and for all of that, I am extremely grateful.

Music is such an important part of our lives. It’s hard to imagine what life would be like without music. It has the ability to communicate things so strongly without even using words. It is transcendent; and creates immense beauty. This is one of the main reasons that I have been drawn to music; to help create beauty in the world. By surrounding ourselves with real beauty, we can help heal and restore ourselves back to God’s original intent. By creating beauty through singing, I know that I am able to give glory to Heavenly Parent.

With the gift of this scholarship, I will be able to focus more solely on my studies of music and singing and perfecting my craft. It will allow me to gain the training I need to continue in my professional career. I will not forget my roots, and I am extremely grateful for this gift. Thank you True Parents, and thank you Heavenly Parent for giving me a beautiful voice. To finish, I think David said it very well in Psalm 146: “I will praise the LORD all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.”—Matthew Hill
