Dr. Kim’s Message at the National Ministry Meeting

On July 15, 2015, Dr. Ki Hoon Kim concluded the national ministry meeting with a message about the importance of communication, knowing one’s value as a leader, and building good relationships. His full message is below.

HSA Meeting

You just heard great news from True Mother in the video. You see, I was there. I wrote down many things and prepared these notes, but already you heard from True Mother directly. I just came back from Korea. My flight was delayed and I arrived in New York around 12:30 a.m., and I got to the hotel around 1:30 this morning and I couldn’t sleep. As you heard, when I travel I always carry Cheon Seong Gyeong, but these days, as Dr. Balcomb mentioned, I took pictures of Cheon Seong Gyeong with my laptop, and I made a goal yesterday to read the next 100 pages. I got to sleep maybe around 3 a.m., so I really feel like, even though I’m physically very tired, this spiritual message from True Parents I shouldn’t miss. This is my heart, and I really want you to take this message.

These days we hear so many things from various people and groups. You don’t have to be confused from other resources. You don’t have to struggle because you heard something else from this person or some strange things from this group. What True Mother said is that we have to worship God with truth and the Holy Spirit. We don’t have to deal with anything else. This is the core point of a life of faith.

Are you confused? No? Oh, I see, then you don’t need to hear my message today. (Laughter) When we live this kind of lifestyle, everything is very clear. As True Mother mentioned in this video clip, how blessed we are, because we have True Father in spirit and True Mother with us on the earth. To testify to True Parents is our mission and responsibility. This is the conclusion of True Mother and True Parents: testify; then you will see if you are confused or not. If I don’t tell people around me what is my goal, what is my faith, then I get confused. Always when I am struggling, it’s because I don’t know what I am doing right now. As True Mother mentioned, when I’m willing to tell people around me about True Parents and about the teachings of True Parents, then I don’t struggle.

When we are clear about this, there is nothing else we have to worry about. Think about The Washington Times and the foundation we have. No one else has what we have. Today congressional leaders heard Divine Principle. This can save this country because of True Parents’ focus on family issues. Think about True Father and True Mother warning about family breakdown in America 50 years ago, but nobody really listened. Even myself and even yourself—we were not serious. “Oh yes, maybe that will happen.” On June 27 we had a wonderful Marriage Blessing ceremony across the nation. Our Dallas Family Church had a small gathering, but they were officiating the Blessing ceremony to uphold family values. Our small efforts can change our community, our nation and the world.

You think we are small? No, we must be mainstream. Not just a minority or ethnic group. Our church, centering on True Parents, is leading this community and this nation, the United States. Please don’t think we are only American church leaders. We are leaders of the world. People are looking to America. I just stopped by Japan and Korea, and Japan respects what America is doing; Korea respects what America is doing. No matter what, America, our national ministry team, please have this kind of leadership. We are leading people around the world.

Sometimes we don’t know our value as blessed central families, so True Mother mentioned that communication between parents and children, between church leaders and congregations, between headquarters and local churches, has been inadequate so many times. Even though we are the Unification movement, often we practice a self-centered way of life. True Parents really want us to be their second selves, so as leaders we need to practice the way of life, the way of thinking like True Parents. This is our portion of responsibility.

When I had breakfast with True Mother, I was reporting about the Top Gun workshop and I told True Mother that more than 40 young American leaders have registered. True Mother replied, “Oh, then you should include Korea and Japan. Even though they already had one or two Top Gun 40-day workshops, they need to come together and understand one another in order to become international leaders—knowing one another and communicating with one another.”

Having the attitude “I am Japanese,” “I am Korean,” “I am American”—this is not working in our community. How can we build good relationships and good communication with one another? Because of this, sometimes we suffer and are confused. This is the reason why True Father, in the last moments before he went to the spirit world, was talking about education and saying that understanding God and True Parents is the best knowledge of humankind. How much do you understand True Parents?

We are here, working for the sake of True Parents, but sometimes we forget and get stuck in a mindset of “mine” and “yours.” What kind of situation are we in? What kind of person, what kind of family are we? This is a very serious business. When we become serious, we will see everything around us very seriously. However, we have the answers, we have the truth. Even though we may have a lot of difficulties, we have the answers to every situation. As blessed central families thanks to True Parents, we have responsibility, we have a mission. What kind of mission do we have, as True Mother told us? To testify to Divine Principle and testify to True Parents. This is the answer.

How can we practice true love? If we don’t have the experience of practicing true love, we can never understand the meaning of true love. This is the teaching of True Parents. Prayer is very important, as is Hoon Dok Hwe (scripture reading). How can we get this truth? We already know. How can we practice this? We already know. How can we feel the Holy Spirit within us? Within our community? One message can save people. One message can kill people. These days, people say whatever they want to; yes, they have freedom of speech. However, God’s way of life is not like that. One word from the tongue can judge you and your family, your church, and your nation, but our way of speech saves people and families and the nation and the world.

Once again, thank you so much for your great support and great work for the sake of True Parents.
