We Are One Global Family
The American Unificationist community is large and diverse, but in every corner of the country, there is a place to gather that feels like home, especially around the holidays. In Omaha Nebraska, a small but warm gathering of Unificationists recently welcomed the Saito family from Tennessee for a short visit that for them, felt like a second home.
Rev. Saito brought along two young Unificationists, Sumiyo and Satomi, who are staying in his care during winter break. Both girls attended middle and high school in Korea and now attend college in the United States. Away from their families for the holidays, the girls experienced a ready welcome from the Omaha community at Sunday Service and the girls had the opportunity to experience small-town American charm and be introduced to other young people. The Sunday service consisted of local families coming together for prayer, songs, a sermon, and a shared meal. Each family takes a turn serving the community by hosting. This scene is similar to those seen on Sundays at Unificationist church services all across America.
Sumiyo plans to attend a 3-day winter workshop in Minnesota at the end of December and will travel with other young Unificationists from Omaha. Satomi plans to travel to New York to spend Christmas with a friend. The time was short, the event, small, but the meeting of Unificationists from two communities sharing the same open heart is just a testament to how close the worldwide Unificationist family can be.
Whether the communities are large or small, they are a place where others can be welcomed like family.
