A History of Miracles
On June 12, Unificationists around the world jointly celebrated the 67th anniversary of the founding of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) and the 59th Day of All True Things. The victory program and awards ceremony, broadcasted live online from South Korea and translated into 15 languages, featured FFWPU world leaders and co-founder Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon.
A special opening video shared the historical roots of FFWPU (colloquially known as the Unification Church) since its inception in 1954. “Though [Rev. Moon] received tremendous persecution,” said the video narrator, “the providence of the salvation of humanity could take a new leap… A strong foundation could be formed and a history of miracles could begin.”
The late Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, co-founder of FFWPU, and his wife, Dr. Moon, worked tirelessly toward building a more peaceful world by creating healthy couples and families through the cross-cultural international Marriage Blessing movement; promoting the reunification of the Korean Peninsula; advocating religious freedom in America and the rest of the world; and developing an ever-growing network of global peacebuilding projects and programs.
Since Rev. Moon’s ascension in 2012, Dr. Moon has pioneered a new era of FFWPU that includes global initiatives like the Peace Starts with Me movement and virtual Rally of Hope series.
“She has been able to restore nations and religious groups,” said the video narrator, “and many righteous people stood up and testified to the Mother of Peace.”
Joined by politicians, business and faith leaders alike, Dr. Moon has reached tens of millions of people with her message of hope and healing for humanity as one family under God. The Day of All True Things, established by Rev. and Dr. Moon in 1962, celebrates the beauty of God’s creation and His endless love for us and for all things.
“Nature is God’s creation and His gift to humankind,” wrote Rev. Moon in his 2009 autobiography, As a Peace-Loving Global Citizen. The Day of All Things is a significant holiday for Unificationists and an important reminder for us to give thanks while enjoying God’s creation.
Unificationist families shared offerings of fruit, cake, flowers, and other foods in their homes as they participated virtually in the celebration. The program featured segments of musical entertainment and a cake cutting by Dr. Moon. Elder couples, who were part of the 36 Couples Holy Marriage Blessing, were also honored with flower basket arrangements for their enduring faith and support, while a special ceremony recognized retiring FFWPU pastors, who were awarded plaques.
“They have always been dedicated to the movement and are part of what has made this day possible,” said Dr. Young Ho Yun, director-general of FFWPU International. “We want to express our appreciation for all of them as God’s representatives.”
“Humanity must know and attend God as our Heavenly Parent,” he continued, before announcing a wave of new plans, including a church growth institute that is currently in development.
“America must achieve its God-given mission,” said Dr. Yun. “Mother’s work has been for a heavenly unified world and a heavenly unified Korea… She wants to reawaken America for the sake of the world. This is a revolutionary proclamation and a revolutionary vision.”
