Prayer Request: Update On Morrow Willis
Since this prayer request has gone up, we have learned that Morrow has contracted a serious infection called C. diff, which is a bacterial problem caused when the intestinal bacteria are imbalanced, in this case, due to the chemo, of which he’d just completed his last session this past Monday. By Tuesday he was sick. It is very painful and can eat holes in your intestines and is potentially life threatening. It is highly contagious so he’s isolated at the hospital for alteast another week. He’s feeling a bit better as of yesterday afternoon, so hopefully they’ll get in handled.
If a high percent donor is found it’s possible that he can go in for a transplant by late November to early December. If his donor is an 80 percent match (which presently is the best available and the donor’s situation is still unstable) he will have to stay in isolation in Houston for at least three months while they closely monitor him for rejection. So ONGOING DONOR DRIVES are still so important. If he gets a 100% match, the three months doesn’t have to happen and the grave danger to him of rejection is virtually eliminated.
Please continue to pray for Morrow as he must kick this infection, complete his chemo, get strong, get a transplant and live.
Morrow, as many know has been fighting leukemia for some time and is currently in need of a bone marrow transplant. His parents are a Caucasian/Japanese mix and therefore his prospective donor most likely will be someone from Asian/Caucasian parents. His situation after chemo these last months had been complicated by serious chemo side effects plus a second cancer had been identified and had been treated. The squeeze is that he needs the transplant during the current window in which his leukemia is in remission. It will come back without the transplant and a donor has still not been found. The Austin church held a “Marrow for Morrow” donor drive on August 10 after being inspired by Wendy Fiala and her recent donor drives nationwide. Please go to the “Marrow for Morrow” facebook page and check it out. Registering is painless, safe and could potentially save a person’s life. Time is running short. Thanks so much!
Please pray that Morrow’s current cancer in the shoulder area can be rapidly healed, a bone marrow donor can be found and his life can overcome this huge health challenge. For info, call Ken at 830-833-4806

chemotherapy is very dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. That goes for radiation therapy as well! The research is out there backing up the truth.
