Detroit Family Church Installs New Pastor
A sense of excitement and hope filled the Detroit Family Church as more than 75 Unificationists gathered on March 1 to celebrate the inauguration of Nina Urbonya as the new church pastor and Michigan state leader. “We’re all in this together,” said Pastor Urbonya. “This is not just about the inauguration of a new pastor, it is a new beginning for our community!”
“Today is a really special and significant day for the Detroit Family Church,” added Midwest Subregional Director Rev. David Rendel. He took a moment to acknowledge former Detroit Family Church pastor Rev. David Kasbow and his family for their steadfast faith in serving the community for the past 24 years. Rev. Kasbow will remain active in the Detroit community in his new role as the local American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) coordinator.
Alongside her husband, Pastor Urbonya shared why she felt called to take the role of pastor and state leader and her excitement for the future of the community.
“The room was filled with joy, love and a new sense of determination,” said Pastor Urbonya. “In this new beginning, we strive to build a community that can bring joy and glory to God!”
The program concluded with a group prayer, a heartfelt song, and a celebratory cake cutting.
