September 18th (and 20th) Are Our Re-Birthday!
Over the next three days Unificationists across America will celebrate some of the most important dates in the history of True Parents’ work in the United States.
Today, we mark the 40th Anniversary of the Madison Square Garden Speech, delivered on September 18, 1974, in New York City, the culmination of True Parents’ Day of Hope speaking tours which had begun nearly two years earlier. Unificationists covered Manhattan with eighty thousand two-by-three-foot posters with a portrait of True Father advertising that “September 18 Could Be Your Re-Birthday.” Even the New York Times had to concede, “His face is everywhere, it seems.”
Two years later, over 300,000 people gathered in Washington D.C., where True Father spoke on America and God’s Will. After the Washington Monument Rally, True Father said:
“I feel light as a feather. I feel like I can fly. I have borne a tremendous burden of responsibility, but with the victory at Washington Monument, I feel like I have been liberated from the weight. I can now walk as a free man. I can hold my head up before heaven and earth.”
Tomorrow, we will gather again in Manhattan, and around the country, for our National Memorial Celebration honoring the 2nd Anniversary of True Father’s ascension in 2012.
Let’s make today, September 18, and Saturday, September 20, America’s re-birthday!
