Spiritual Growth for Young Adult Leaders
On October 12, the Los Angeles Family Church (LAFC) hosted a Spiritual Growth training for over 60 young adult leaders and staff. The one-day program brought together leaders from every ministry, including Sunday school, Youth and Young Adult Ministry (YAYAM), the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP), and Generation Peace Academy (GPA), to enhance their lives of faith, give them guidance, and build their connections.
Western Subregional Director of Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) USA Rev. Larry Krishnek opened the workshop with a few words of encouragement, congratulating the young leaders on their efforts to educate youth and participate in community outreach. Professor Gerry Servito of the Education Ministry led the training, giving guidance on spiritual growth from a Unification Thought perspective.
“The main thing we wanted for our young leadership was to enhance their spiritual life for themselves and their ministry,” said Carol Takhar, director of the workshop. “We realized that when the leaders are connected strongly to Heavenly Parent then we can connect our community as well.”
Since this was the first interministerial training, discussion groups were intentionally mixed, helping young leaders gain new insights and perspectives and deepen their understanding of the discussion topics. The program ended with an offering of prayer, fall-themed games and a delicious dessert bar.
