District 4 Comes Together in Boston

More than 75 Unificationists from District 4 gathered at the Boston Family Church for a district-wide service on September 22 to welcome District 4 Pastor Mika Deshotel to Boston and to celebrate the success of Camp Aurora.

Pastor Deshotel gave a sermon titled “Our Offering,” where she spoke about Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, affectionately known as True Mother, and her worldwide efforts to accomplish Vision 2020. Pastor Deshotel emphasized America’s roots in the New England region, and how God is working through Dr. Moon and her husband Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon to raise America up as God’s nation. In addition, Pastor Deshotel talked about upcoming Peace Starts With Me rallies in America, culminating with the launch of the World Clergy Leadership Conference in New Jersey in December. She encouraged everyone in the congregation to support efforts for national restoration through participating in Tribal Messiahship.

“The service provided an opportunity for everyone in the region to be on the same page with our movement’s direction,” said Luc Jean, a young local Unificationist. “It built unity in the district, giving members hope and determination for completing the goals True Mother has asked us to do. The unity and the clear direction we have is inspirational!”
The service also featured an awards segment for local youth ministry staff who played an integral part in making Camp Aurora 2019 a success and for revamping youth ministry at the Boston Family Church. Luc Jean received the special Camp Aurora Living for the Sake of Others Award for his hard work and inspiring morning service at camp. Heather Thalheimer, founder of Camp Aurora, then shared a letter from Rev. Demian Dunkley, president of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) USA. In his letter, Rev. Dunkley emphasized the immense positive impact Camp Aurora has had on young Unificationists, and how summer camps “form the widest foundation of their faith for the rest of their lives.” Rev. Dunkley’s letter concluded by highlighting the importance of investing and educating the youth.
