American Leadership Conference: “Peace in Our Time”
On the International Day of Peace, September 21, the Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) Family Church hosted an American Leadership Conference (ALC) titled “Peace in Our Time.” The conference featured a keynote address from Mr. Tom McDevitt, chairman of the Washington Times.
In line with the traditional ALC format, participants of the program read excerpts from Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon, and other world leaders, on topics like “developing a true character” and “the importance of marriage and the family.” Participants then shared their thoughts during round-table discussions.
Following a delicious dinner, Mr. McDevitt gave an inspiring presentation about the impact of the Washington Times, the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), and Dr. Moon’s recent world tour. Mr. McDevitt said he wanted to show “empirical, undeniable evidence that God is working all over the world.”
The evening concluded with the appointment of 11 new Ambassadors for Peace, including local pastors, a city councilman, a Korean and Vietnam War Veteran, the Dallas President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Da Saints, and a few community leaders. The DFW Family Church community hopes to continue to educate and provide these new Ambassadors for Peace with opportunities to connect to the vision of Dr. and Rev. Moon through UPF.
