Southeast Subregion
The Washington DC Family Church Sunday School Team visited the Armed Forces Retirement Home. Located in northwest Washington, D.C., it is one of only two veteran senior citizen homes run by the Federal Government in America. These seniors have served in conflict zones. Some people lost their hearing, eyesight, limbs and/or were injured during their active service. Wanting to bring them joy, the children sang songs, danced and presented them with handmade cards.
Midwest Subregion
The Midwest held its first ever subregion-wide Young Adult (YA) Retreat! The retreat was held from June 13 to 16 on the beautiful shores of Lake Michigan with about 30 young adults joining. Despite the rainy weather, participants still had plenty of fun and connected through a s’more bonfire, Minute-to-Win-It games, and board and video games. They also had Nina and Aaron Urbonya speak about life of faith, career and YA relevant topics, such as matching and Blessing, family relationships, and YA’s relationship with their church communities.
Southwest Subregion
Camp Lonestar’s theme this year was “seven.eight”, which represents the 7.8 billion people in the world projected for 2020. It also represented the 7.8 billion ways to love and be loved, and each unique representation of our heavenly parent. Through this workshop, the staff hoped to demonstrate how important each individual person is and how strong everyone is together.
Western Subregion
The high school One Heart Camp held from June 23 to June 29 at Camp Seely in Southern California was a huge success. The middle school One Heart also just finished (June 30 to July 6). The theme was ‘Recreating Ourselves,’ with content covering restoration through indemnity with Pastor George Kazakos. Participants made breakthroughs in understanding Jesus and learned how to take ownership of their lives and make the best version of themselves! One Heart Camp had participants from California (North and South), Washington, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and Alaska.
