Statement on Virginia Beach Tragedy

Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU) wishes to express our deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the Virginia Beach shooting that occurred May 31. We are saddened by this senseless act of violence where 12 people were killed, and we hope for a swift recovery for those who were injured.
As an organization, Family Federation stresses the value of family, and the view of society as one global family. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of unity and peace among our brothers and sisters. We support efforts to build healthy communities and advocate this cause on social media with the hashtag #stoptheviolence. We hope the Virginia Beach shooting can bring about social activism toward peace and help communities racked by violence.
Just a few months earlier, another shooting in Los Angeles left well-known rapper Nipsey Hussle dead. Family Federation and City of Refuge Ministries in Los Angeles have partnered to open a local community center where youth will have an opportunity to get involved with the arts in a safe and healthy environment. Your contribution could save a life and a family from the sorrow of losing a loved one to acts of violence. Join in the cause on social media with #stoptheviolence, make a donation or learn more at putdownthatweapon.org.
With blessings and love,

Very sorry to hear of this tragedy. (I grew up in Northern Virginia from age 6, when my Daddy was transferred to Washington from NYC.) People are sad and lonely, but need viable and fulfilling alternatives to releasing that sadness into violence. Thank you, Rev. Dunkley.
