Return the Heart of a Mother for Mother’s Day

What is the heart of a mother? To name a few: being selfless, giving, and giving ultimate unconditional love. Whatever our relationship with our physical mother is, we ultimately know that she is always there for us, and she wants the best for us. The heart of a mother is much like the heart of God. With the Human Fall, God lost his children. The maternal heart of God loves everyone without exception and favors all children equally.

This Mother’s Day, let’s honor mothers not only for their sacrifices as parents, but also for all they still have to share as beautiful daughters of God.

Here are a few ideas of ways to celebrate the mothers in our communities:

Turn the Tables

Beyond our own mothers and within our community there are plenty of first-generation Unificationist moms who deserve to be honored for all their contributions over the years. Mothers affect our lives in big and small ways, and wouldn’t it be nice to say ‘Thank You’ to them for it? Why not turn the tables and have the fathers and men in the community take care of the cooking for that Sunday Service? Mothers have been taking care of us for decades, why not give them a break and sweeten their day a little more?

Give Mom the Spotlight

Another possibility for a celebratory ‘Thank You’ is to give the mothers the spotlight! They can show off their musical talents, host a communal cooking class, or teach the young kids some origami. Whatever their talent and creative skill, showcase it! How often do these women get a chance to be in the spotlight and get acknowledged for their unique talents?

Give to Mothers in Need

Reaching out to the mothers in our extended community is something we can do anytime time of year. There are many areas in society where women and young mothers are being underserved and could use some real compassionate assistance. Women’s shelters are always looking for basic necessity donations, such as food, toiletries and clothing. Mother’s Day is a time to reflect on the gratitude we owe not only to our own mothers, but also to the cosmic heart of True Mother. Let’s return the heart of our mothers this Mother’s Day.
