Famicon 2019: MyTribe
Are you ready for anything?
This was Rev. Demian Dunkley’s main message at Famicon 2019. He first heard it from True Mother, who, back in December 2018, asked America to take on the spirit that all things are possible. Over 155 people were happily gathered in very close quarters at the Belvedere Estates Training Center on Saturday, March 2 soaking in Demians’ anecdotes of time spent with True Mother as he conveyed True Mother’s excitement for America. Even with the delay in schedule due to inclement weather, the energy was high, people were smiling and everyone was revving to dive into activating MyTribe.
At the Welcoming dinner held at East Garden Estates the night before, Rev. Richard Buessing, President of the Senior Pastor Association, welcomed all the Unificationists in his opening prayer—many of whom rarely get the chance to participate in leadership gatherings—expressing so well God’s love, saying, “Each person here is precious. Behind them is the story of how You worked through each of them.” He also touched directly on the point of holding Famicon this year subregionally expressing his hope that this would be the “launching pad for [Tribal Messiahship in] this region” and ultimately, for each subregion.
With such heart, love and attention to True Mother’s desire to reach all our families around America, how could we not be excited?
Around the nation, a total of over 500 Unificationists gathered for Famicon: MyTribe in New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles. This is the first time the annual leader’s gathering, traditionally held after the lunar New Year, is being held in this way. We are seeing so many new faces participating in the planning of the year for the nation and they are feeling confident to start their tribes. Tune back in to FamilyFed.org next week to hear from Unificationists from the five subregions.
During the Saturday morning Zoom call connecting all the subregional Famicons, Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, Regional Chairman for Family Federation North America, clarified Tribal Messiahship as a family effort, where first-, second- and third- generation Unificationists working together can build a tribe quicker and build it to be strong in their love for God and True Parents, in their understanding of the Marriage Blessing, and the teachings of the Divine Principles, the core text of the Unification way of life.
What is most wonderful about Famicon 2019 is Dr. Kim is in Hawaii with True Mother preparing for the Peace Starts With Me Rally on April 6 being held in Los Angeles, and she is prayerfully and joyfully preparing for the Christian people to receive her, as God prepared.
The mission for the Family Federation movement worldwide in 2019 is to activate Tribal Messiahship in all corners of the earth. Famicon’s mission is to empower all Unificationist families with the tools and resources they need to do this, and most of all, have their hearts full of the confidence that We Can Do It!
And we have all the reason to feel that confidence. Famicon staff found a fun way to show how keeping the goal in mind first can help us build the Tribal Messiah movement quickly in America. It’s called the Marshmallow Challenge. Several subregions met that challenge and learned that in short, every project has its own marshmallow! Watch this TedTalk and try the challenge with your tribe to gain insights to help your tribe.
Famicon is still going strong. Tune in to FamilyFed.org next week for an update and to hear from Unificationists from the five regions.
