Local True Parents’ Birthday Celebrations
True Parents’ Birthday was celebrated around the world on February 10, 2019. Here are how some local communities celebrated.

Tampa
The Tampa Family Church celebrated True Parents’ birthday within their very small community of three Blessed Families and two second generation Blessed couples. They joined the live broadcast Pledge service and celebration, and later enjoyed Korean barbecue and japchae.
Washington, D.C.
The Washington, D.C. Family Church community gathered on February 10 in the Founders’ room at The Washington Times to celebrate together with True Mother via live broadcast. At 5:oo p.m. EST, they joined the broadcasted pledge service and celebration. Participants were moved and inspired by the beauty of True Mother, the speaker’s remarks, the emotional poem read by Wonju McDevitt and the beautiful performances.
Denver
The Denver Family Church held a pledge service and breakfast for 140 people on Sunday morning, February 10. The sermon was centered on the meaning and value of the both Heavenly Parents Day and True Parents’ birthday. In the afternoon, heartfelt testimonies were given by attendees for over an hour. While the testimonies were going on, a Yute game was going on downstairs for the kids.
Afterwards, everyone came together for Bible and Divine Principle Jeopardy. The contestants were between the age of 12 and 15 and ended up tying for first place. Next came a talent show, a Korean dinner and an art contest centered around the theme of “Family.”
New England
New England celebrated three Holy Days in one on February 10! Over 150 people from Maine, New Hampshire and the three Massachusetts communities joined in the celebration of Heavenly True Parent’s Day, True Parents’ Birthday and Foundation Day.
Sunday service began with many musical offerings. The Sunday sermon was given by Pastor Catherine Ono who touched on the significance and meaning of all three Holy Days with an emphasis on becoming people in the footsteps of True Parents who can leave a lasting impact in the hearts of everyone we meet as the foundation of being Heavenly Tribal Messiahs.
After service, everyone enjoyed a Korean dinner and celebration cake and goodies from the offering table for dessert. Following lunch was a Yute game, ping pong tournament and a bean bag toss.
Clifton
The Clifton Family Church community gathered for prayer, fellowship dinner and cake in honor of True Parents’ birthday.
Los Angeles
On February 10, a rare cold and rainy day in Southern California, around 400 people gathered to honor the tradition and celebrate Heavenly Parent’s Day, True Parents’ Birthday and Foundation Day as one big family.
The Pledge Service started at 10:00 a.m. and was officiated by Los Angeles Family Church Pastor George Kazakos. After the Pledge Ceremony, he delivered a message entitled “Heavenly Parent’s Day.” He talked about the seven-year course of True Parents, the establishment of the Holy Day, and how True Mother brought victory over unspeakable hardships.
Kansas City
The Kansas City Family Church celebrated at the Unification Family Life Center on February 10. The program consisted of Pledge Service, a keynote address and sharing of recent Tribal Messiah activities.
Dallas Fort Worth
After reciting the Family Pledge and Cheon Il Guk anthem, the Dallas Family Church band performed a number of holy songs, including a moving rendition of “Blessing of Glory” in commemoration of this special day.
Rev. Mark Hernandez delivered the main message to 120 attendees and briefly shared about his experience at the American Clergy Leadership Conference Summit in Chicago, and how he feels like this is truly a special time. Afterwards, he read President Demian Dunkley’s recent letter. The letter helped Unificationists gain clarity for what Tribal Messiahship is all about and gave them hope for their own efforts in this upcoming year.
After lunch, they held their annual Yute tournament.
Bay Area
The Bay Area Family Church celebrated on Saturday, February 9 at the Shim Jung Gardens in Berkeley, CA. Six out of twelve couples from the 1800 couples Blessing attended, which turned the gathering into a dual celebration; True Parents’ birthday and the 44th Anniversary of the 1800 Couples Blessing in 1975.
