Writing Contest: in Memory of True Father on His Seonghwa Anniversary
Calling all young writers! We’re looking for talented young people to be a part of a worldwide essay contest in honor of True Father’s second Seonghwa anniversary. Anyone, not just Unificationists, ages 24 and under, is invited to submit a piece for a chance to win one of 10 prizes totaling $2100!
To enter, submit a 500-word essay on the topic, “My Commission from True Parents.” Consider the following scenario: This morning, you unexpectedly receive a letter from Korea. Opening it, you are shocked and pleased to see it is a letter from True Father, written to you personally just a few days before he went to the hospital in 2012. In it, True Father bequeaths you a small portion of his responsibility and asks you in sacred trust to carry it forward on his behalf. Choose to write either (1) the commission letter from True Father to you, or (2) your response to True Father’s commission.
Essays will be judged in three age-groups: 11 and under, 16 and under, and 24 and under. The first place winner will receive $700. Second place receives $400, third wins $300, and seven merit awards of $100 each will be given.
We are looking for essays that reflect authenticity and passion, not conformity and predictability! Share your writing, or encourage others to contribute!
Please submit your entry to execoffice@unification.org by July 31, 2014 to be considered. Winners will be announced on August 8.
