Peace Starts with ACLC Prayer Breakfasts
On Saturday, October 20, over 200 clergy and ministers attended the American Clergy Leadership Conference (ACLC) Prayer Breakfast held in the Grand Ballroom at the New Yorker Hotel. About half of the attendees consisted of young people from Family Federation for a Heavenly USA and Chambers Memorial Baptist Church which filled the room with excitement.
The Prayer Breakfast began with welcoming remarks from Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, Regional Chairman of Family Federation North America. He reminded the audience that when True Father came to America, he said, “America is God’s Hope.” Dr. Kim then challenged everyone to work together to truly make American the hope for God and for the world.
Senior Pastor of Chambers Memorial Baptist Church, Bishop Lawrence E. Edgerton, Jr. stood as the keynote speaker for the Prayer Breakfast, and invited the choir from his church to rock the entire audience with high-spirited songs. Afterwards, Bishop Edgerton stated, “True Mother works very hard to bring peace in America. She is breaking down the barriers that exist between people.” Criticizing the division within the Body of Christ, he said, “We don’t see Satan’s demons fighting other demons. True Mother is helping people of faith come together to tear down Satan’s kingdom.”
Rev. Richard Buessing, President of Family Federation for a Heavenly USA shared his inspiration about the assembled clergy, saying, “Christian pastors and all leaders of faith are the hope for America. The politicians cannot bring healing and harmony to America. It is only the men and women of God who are ready to love, serve and sacrifice who can heal this nation.”
Dr. Michael Jenkins, Co-Chairman of ACLC invited Bishop Jesse Edwards, Dr. Tanya Edwards, and Pastor Joel Barnaby who read a passage from Rev. Moon’s “Jesus’ Standard of Goodness” in God’s Warning to the World:
“Both God’s love and true human love were revealed through Jesus…The example of Jesus Christ is the absolute standard for all humankind. Just imagine an entire nation composed of Jesus-like men and women. What would you call it? The Kingdom of Heaven on Earth – it could be nothing less. Jesus Christ was Lord over all life because of his unparalleled form of loving, giving and sacrifice. He will remain Lord forever.”
This was the second Prayer Breakfast in an occurring series in preparation for the upcoming Peace Starts with Me Rally on November 12 at Nassau Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum. The next ACLC Prayer Breakfast will be held on Friday, October 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom at the New Yorker Hotel.
