Cheon Il Guk Constitution Education

Visiting Chicago on June 26 as part of a five-city tour of the U.S. to introduce the Cheon Il Guk Constitution, Dr. Jin Choon Kim, vice chairman of the Supreme Council, was welcomed by some 90 members of the Chicago Family Church.

Dr. Kim was asked by True Mother to deliver a presentation about the constitution of Cheon Il Guk. His first stop was in San Francisco on June 21, where he spoke to the National Assembly participants and local Unificationists. On Monday, June 23, he spoke in Clifton, N.J. From there he continued on to Washington, D.C., Chicago and Minneapolis. In every city the tour has received positive feedback on its style, content and discussion opportunities.

Dr. Kim stated that the CIG Constitution will help American Unificationists “Remember, Revive and Reimagine God’s Hope for America through the investment of True Parents here.” We now are living in the Age of the CIG Constitution, he said, and it was True Father’s fervent wish to bequeath such a document to the world. On September 29, 1974, True Father said, “To enact a heavenly constitution is the ‘life mission’ of the True Parents and members.”

Dr. Kim asked Unificationists to use the CIG Constitution to reflect upon their “busy” lives: “Who am I? For what am I busy? And where am I heading?” Imagery of the cab of a truck with no cargo, going as fast as the wheels would allow, drew laughter from the crowd. The faces of members were very engaged, and many incisive questions followed the presentation.

First generation member Yasuko Yoshida commented: “I am very inspired to hear about the CIG Constitution based on the three points. I am very sad that CIG is not yet realized, but this gives me some energy to build. I want to study more and take time to digest it. I hope we can form a CIG Constitution study group, because I want to learn more.”

Surveying the crowd at the conclusion of the program, Dr. Kim thanked the members for their participation, saying that he felt a “very warm family atmosphere” among Chicago members.

Dr. Kim also participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony marking the grand opening of the new Chicago Family Church Remington Road Center.
