LA CARP Visits Cypress College
On August 17, the Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) in Los Angeles gathered at Cypress College to perform the MuJoGeon (unconditionally) dance for the faculty and administration at their bi-annual staff orientation. A total of 35 CARP students from several different chapters such as El Camino College, Pasadena City College, Cypress College, along with a couple of Kodan moms, District Pastor Rev. Young Tack Yang and some CARP volunteers came along as support and motivation.
The audience consisted of 80 professors as well as the President of Cypress College Dr. JoAnna Schilling and a few administrative members from the Northern Orange County Community College District such as Chancellor Cheryl Marshall.
After the performance, LA CARP members were approached left and right by Cypress students with endless questions such as, “What is CARP?” “Where has CARP been?” and “What does CARP stand for?” LA CARP members were also able to meet with Chancellor Marshall personally along with faculty and staff who expressed deep interest in supporting the CARP program at Cypress. One professor asked if she could give her students extra credit for attending the event and maybe eve learn the dance.
The next day, Dr. Schilling sent a personal email to LA CARP about the impact of the event, stating, “I can’t tell you how many great comments I received about your performance. Words like ‘high-energy,” “exciting” and “electric” were just a few used in the comments. People were gratified by your presence and felt it was a perfect way to end our event!”
LA CARP hopes to generate a lot of interest in Revival Starts With Me during the Fall semester.
