What Songs Stir Your Soul?
We can see the Divine Principle in everyday life, and what is more everyday than music? Hit songs surround us, with new tunes making the top charts each week, propagated by the radio, our iPods, movie soundtracks and restaurant playlists. As we all know and as DP Life states in today’s blog post, mainstream music can be a part of “what tends to be shallow waters,” but what if you could find God in some of these songs? What would that mean for our lives, and what would that mean for the world?
If we can experience God through music—a language that connects people all over the world—we can experience music in a deeper way, and we can experience each other in a deeper way, as we connect to the divine through the artists that produce our favorite songs and come to see the divine in our fellow human beings. Knowing that there is light in some of the darkness that plagues the media today, we can be hopeful of our potential to spread messages of goodness to the world.
Check out these three hits that are actually about God, and listen closely to hear the lyrics in a totally new way. Then tune in on Wednesday to take a more in-depth view of what the music industry is like today. See how you can use the power of music to spread the good word.
This week’s series of articles on DP Life may inspire you to analyze music in your youth groups, update your Sunday Service worship selection, refresh your own personal playlist, or even create your own songs.
