A Divine Love Life
DP Life aims to teach how to live a Divine Principle-inspired life, so that we can practice true values and learn to live for more than just ourselves. DP values surrounding love and marriage hold incredible depth but are also sometimes misunderstood. During the month of May, DP Life has been doing some myth-busting with articles on Unificationist culture, by sharing about our journey to create a lasting love.
We’ve learned that a soul mate is not someone we find—whether by chance or destiny—but a relationship we create. Our aim was to equip readers with the inspiration and practical steps to apply this concept in their lives. Whether single or married, anyone can benefit from the reminder that an attitude of working hard and setting our sights on constant growth will carry us forward and make love last.
Because one can go only so far with explaining principles, DP Life has been implementing quizzes and polls to interact with readers and create a community in which we share and learn together. Readers took a poll on relationship values, which showed us where we stand collectively and offered a real-life perspective of how our values develop throughout our lives.
The topic of creating one’s soul mate spoke most highly to the single stage of life. We now shift forward to look at values during the initial stages of a marriage. Specifically, we examined the impact of one’s first love, and asked: “What if our first love was our only love? What happens when we wait for the one person with whom we will spend our life?” Wherever we are in our lives right now, we can commit to the idea that developing our love with our one and only soul mate is a precious experience, by teaching our children accordingly and applying the value of commitment in our own marriages.
We also examined the way Unificationists develop their love and romance, including the meaning and value of a 40-day “separation,” or continued abstinence, in the first forty days of marriage. Anyone can gain insight from understanding the foundation for a strong love; read When First Love is Your Only Love and share it with a friend!
