Welcome to Our New Special Emissary

This morning we welcomed Dr. Chang Shik Yang back to the United States and to the Americas, and held an installation ceremony for his new capacity as a special envoy of True Parents for North and South America. True Mother appointed Dr. Yang and seven other leaders as Special Emissaries during her May 11 Mother’s Day service in Korea.

We all remember and appreciate Dr. Yang’s many years of service as the Continental Director for North America, and his dedicated and close attendance to True Parents during that time. He also spent a great deal of time with True Father in Las Vegas during True Father’s final years on earth. More recently, Dr. Yang has served with distinction in a variety of leadership capacities in Korea.

The position of Special Emissary is a new one. The responsibility of the special emissary is to present comprehensive reports to True Parents, convey True Parents’ heart and love to Unificationist communities in their region, enhance outreach efforts towards educating government leaders, provide financial guidance to the regions, and assess the general circumstances and efforts of each region.

The outreach efforts and VIP education is the foremost responsibility of this role. The Special Emissary must also better inform their government leadership, working in particular with the Universal Peace Federation. Dr. Yang has offered his full support for the existing leadership structure in North America and South America as we work together to accomplish the goals for Vision 2020. We welcome and are grateful for his help!

Today Dr. Yang outlined some of his goals and objectives for the months and years ahead, and we wish him well as he begins this important mission for True Mother and our Heavenly Parent.
