DP Life Asks the World…
This week on DP Life we are examining relationship priorities… as told by readers! DP Life seeks to understand how values in a relationship change depending on marital status, by asking all readers to rate ten relationship qualities (such as a shared spiritual life, attraction, and shared hobbies) in descending order of importance. It’s interactive style: by asking readers to share their real-life experience, we can find out more about our larger community.
DP Life’s polls are one of a kind, because results are posted shortly after the poll is released. By doing this, we can look at the patterns that emerge and get a concrete view of where we ourselves fit into it all. Among many things brought to light by the latest poll, Designing Your Perfect Partner, DP Life discovered how our spiritual course progresses through marriage. Marriage is, above all, a spiritual bond with the one closest to you—your soul mate. The analysis showed that a shared spiritual life was more important among married couples than among singles or people in young relationships. We can see how, as love grows over time, so does the spiritual bond.
Marriage is an important topic and a universal value. This poll is for everyone, an approach that lets us see that universal values exist upon which we can build. Making this world better and more conscious of true values begins with recognizing what the nations, religions and cultures have already figured out, and working from there. DP Life is a way to share our vision and values with the world, and what better way than to present to others the world as it is, with a clear picture what all humans—regardless of religion—strive for, and then how we can get there?
In addition to acting as an outreach opportunity, the information from this poll can be applied to our own journeys. Can we make our marriages work by keeping in mind the priorities we had back when we were single and unclouded by the twists and turns of a relationship? Or rather, when we are single, can we more clearly find our soul-mate by knowing what is truly important in the long run?
The results of the poll can only say so much for certain, but they are something that people can get thinking about. If you haven’t taken the poll for yourself, do so now, and then see how your answers compare to the overall results. Let’s see if results change as more people chime in! Take a previous poll to discover how DP is your life!
