- The First Day of All True Things
Unificationists celebrate eight major Holy Days throughout the year. The first four Holy Days that True Parents created relate to the order of creation (parents, children, the created things and God). The second four relate to events in Unification Church history (True Parents’ Birthday, the Nation of the Unified Cosmos, Day of God’s Eternal Blessing and the Cosmic Sabbath). The Holy Days involve beautiful traditions through which we commemorate the important victories in the course of restoring this world and humanity. They afford us the opportunity to offer our heartfelt thanks to God and True Parents.
May 29, 2014 marks the 52nd anniversary of the Day of All True Things. This day celebrates all the good things that God created—from creation to the love in our families. On his Day of All True Things speech 35 years ago in 1979, True Father said, “Everything in creation exists for some certain purpose. Do you think they would feel good just being a commodity on the market, even if they were expensive, valuable commodities? Would they feel happy if many men and women came to watch and observe them? Do flowers exist to glorify themselves? Just as you do not see your own face, the petals of these flowers do not see themselves; they exist to serve something besides their own purpose. The flowers impart their fragrance to please someone else who comes to appreciate them.”
Many Unificationists have had pre-Holy Day celebrations this past Sunday. Many more will celebrate this coming Thursday and Sunday. Whether you celebrate at home or with your congregation, we wish everyone a happy Day of All True Things celebration!
