Our blog series, “Sacrifice, Compassion, and Global Change,” shares about Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon’s testimony to her husband before interfaith clergy and a stadium of 80,000: “Are you prepared to meet the returning Lord who, two thousand years ago, said he would return as he died, that is, on the cross?” She spoke to those clergy, “Today, Christianity—all religions …must prepare to greet …the marriage Blessing through True Parents [and] the true family movement.” As Rev. Moon said, “the bride must bring about unity among the churches and within the nation and bring them all back to the bridegroom.”
Our video this week is entitled, “Father and Mother Are Opposites.” Eve was not made in Adam’s image; she was made in God’s image. Rev. Moon once said, “Man was projected from God’s body. This is the same for woman.” In Genesis, after the woman appeared as bone of the man’s bones, flesh of his flesh, the man was told to become bone of her bones, flesh of her flesh. God did not direct the wife to go to her husband, but the husband to leave his parents and go to her. As Father put it, “Whenever the perfect bride is prepared, the perfect bridegroom will inevitably come.” Complementary opposites.
Thursday’s Holy Marriage Blessing podcast, “The Mystery of Mary,” traces the path of Jesus’ mother. In her, before marriage, Jesus was conceived, and not by her fiancé. Not understanding him, complaining of how he treated her, she pulled Jesus out of the Temple at age 12. When he began his ministry, he said she had nothing to do with him. Yet she was present at the cross, and Jesus put her under the care of his beloved disciple, with whom she henceforth dwelled. And that disciple, John, wrote a unique Gospel. Christians exalt Mary as a perpetual virgin, the “God-bearer.” Catholics say she was the center in the Upper Room at Pentecost. What does the Principle say?
