18th Seonghwa Memorial for Young Jin Nim

Rev. Chang Woon Jeong of the Los Angeles Korean Evangelical Association (KEA) led the 18th annual memorial service for Young Jin Nim, one of True Parents’ sons, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Seung in Carson City, Nevada. A visit from Dr. and Mrs. Chae Hee Lee from Canada made this years memorial service extra special.

The service began with an invitation to Young Jin Nim and all of True Parents’ family members who have ascended to join the event. Through prayers and respectful bows, those in attendance created a holy atmosphere, filled with love and grace. 

Rev. Jeong delivered the main address, sharing his research on True Parents’ words about the meaning of Young Jin Nim’s ascension. At the time, True Father was 79 years old and concerned about the Satan’s interference with God’s providence before True Father’s 80th birthday. Because Young Jin Nim was a pure son, True Father explained, his passing was to protect True Parents from Satan. 

True Father maintained that Young Jin Nim’s death, contrary to many rumors, was not a suicide.  Although his death came as a result of a fall from 17th floor of a hotel, his body had incurred little damage. Heung Jin Nim, True Parents’ second son who also ascended at a young age, would be there to welcome his brother Young Jin to the spirit world. 

Young Jin Nim testified that while on earth, he didn’t understand True Parents and their mission. It was only after going to the spiritual world he came to understand. He attended a 100-Day workshop to discover more. Heung Jin Nim and Young Jin Nim made great unity and determined to help True Parents providence on earth. 

Rev. Thompson then went on stage and shared about True Parents’ heart of suffering after losing HaeJin Nim as a baby, Hee Jin Nim in middle school, Heung Jin Nim in high school, Young Jin Nim in college, and later, Hyo Jin Nim as an adult son. 

After the service was over everyone shared a wonderful meal and had great fellowship.
