High Spirits at Latest Weekend IPEC Seminar

Four young Unificationists made for a tight-knit group and a high-energy weekend at the first True Love Divine Principle Seminar of November, which took place in Las Vegas at the International Peace Education Center (IPEC). “Everyone was high-spirited, very enthusiastic, and bonded together very quickly,” says lecturer Rev. Andrew Compton, who led the Divine Principle (DP) discussions.

Attendees came from Florida, California, and Wyoming, and each had a unique perspective on the teachings of True Parents. One guest was hearing DP for the first time. Another had grown up in the Unification Movement, listening to DP talks her whole life. As a teenager, Jellina Son had little interest in Divine Principle. The lectures she heard previously were repetitive and unrelatable. “The way they were teaching [DP], it was not easy for me to understand the concepts,” said Jellina. Her interest in the DP changed when she heard Rev. Compton’s talks. Compton is known for his fresh, engaging content, which makes for real connection to the material. “I can definitely say that I have learned A LOT over the weekend, even though it’s only two days,” reflects Son.

Other guests were newer to the teachings of Reverend Moon. Meagan Robles of Southern California has been a Unificationist for only five weeks. “Everyone is welcoming and treats each other like brothers and sisters,” says Robles, who even made friends with the cooks at IPEC. When asked what she would improve about the seminar, she says emphatically, “We need to provide tissues!….It pains me deeply to listen [to pain of God and the course of Jesus], and even more when I try to reflect on how I can help fix it.”

Daniel Lim, who attends college in Florida, felt a similar call to action after hearing the IPEC lectures. “I feel more inspired to contribute to making good changes in this world,” he says. Lim plans to go back home and persuade his childhood best friend to attend the seminar with him next year.

In between heartfelt discussions and deep connections with one another, participants took time to venture out into nature. It was all smiles for the four participants, who had perfect weather as they rode their boat out on the waters of Lake Mead. After enjoying the breeze on their boats, participants stopped by the Hoover Dam before returning back to IPEC. Many guests who attend the IPEC Seminars reflect that their visits out into nature provide for some of the best memories of the whole weekend.

As always, the workshop felt too short as participants said their goodbyes to one another and to Compton. They will return home with new friends and a new perspective on God and True Parents.
