Don’t Wait for Heaven
FFWPU USA President Rev. Richard Buessing visited the Elizabeth Family Church for the first time in over a year this past Sunday, delivering the Sunday sermon and reminding the Unificationists that heaven is something we create.
Rev. Buessing first drew inspiration from the Bible: “The Kingdom of Heaven is not coming with signs to be observed. The Kingdom of Heaven is in the midst of you.”
With so many religious people waiting for heaven, Rev. Buessing noted that people cannot remain idle: “But heaven isn’t coming to us—we have to become heaven. We must make ourselves into heaven. We have to be worthy of heaven. How can we be in heaven if we are not heavenly people?”
Rev. Buessing ultimately attributed our ability to become heavenly people to God: “What is your final destination? It is to become like God, to have his loving heart for others—to have heavenly characteristics.”
He then referred to the Divine Principle to further explain that heaven and peace start within us: “True Father wrote so many words about our relation with God, our Heavenly Parent. The first blessing of the Three Great Blessings—to be fruitful—means to become like God,” Rev. Buessing said. “Do you think you can live in heaven if you are selfish, greedy, hateful, resentful? That is why Heaven begins with us.”
This heavenly status cannot be achieved alone, Rev. Buessing explained. “We need the Messiah,” he said. “We need God, but we need True Parents to connect us to God.” It is by living for the sake of others, inheriting a truly loving, unconditional heart from True Parents and Heavenly Parent, that we can create heaven in ourselves and the rest of the world.
After this inspiring message from Rev. Buessing, he, Mrs. Marjorie Buessing, and the Unificationists of the Elizabeth community shared an intimate lunch in which they were able to discuss openly and honestly about True Parents, the movement, and its future.
As they look forward to the upcoming Global Rally for the Reunification of Korea, Unificationists are reminded that unity, peace, and heaven all begin within ourselves and our relationship with God.

Thank You Rev. Buessing for your inspiring Thoughts on “Heaven”….
Was asked to give this Sunday’s Sermon and I was thinking about a similar subject, but more in Line with describing Heaven in the Spirit-World. Your Thoughts that we have to become Heaven are very complementary. Heaven is what we wish for but not too many sermons are focused on it. Is it the lack of knowledge or Experience? What did True Father tell us about it? In the early 70’s Bo Hi Pak told us to read Borgia’s “Life in the World Unseen” – to many of us it broke new ground about how Life works over there. We just need to want to know more and focus with an original mind to ask the right questions – but meanwhile prepare our own hearts keep our minds pure and welcome God into our Life’s – as Rev. Buessing said – we should become like God, based on our own personal Uniqueness…..
