Peace Road USA Continues in the Pacific
Peace Road 2017 continued in America this past weekend, as Unificationist communities from Sacramento, San Francisco, and Hawaii rode their bikes and ran through numerous paths, hills, and forests to symbolically connect all parts of the world in an effort to promote world peace and unity.
HAWAII
Over 70 friends and families of Honolulu Family Church gathered together at Ala Moana Beach Park, located between Waikiki and downtown Honolulu, to hold “Peace Road 2017” on Sunday, August 27. First, during their Sunday Service in the park, Rev. Kazuo Takami, District Pastor of Hawaii explained the history and significance of Peace Road project.
He first mentioned the origin of Peace Road as the “International Highway Project” which was proposed by True Father in 1981. True Mother moved the project forward with the “Peace Road” project so that more people in the world could come to understand and get involved in the project’s promotion. He further explained that Peace Road is an educational program to end the various problems that divide people of the world, such as race and religion. Through Peace Road, the Unification movement also seeks to educate people on the importance of peaceful re-unification of the only divided country in the world, Korea.
Before starting the Peace Road program, the congregation enjoyed a performance of “Mujogeon” by the young Unificationist ladies.
Starting at the Magic Island, a small man-made peninsula, cyclists went around Ala Moana Beach Park. Tourists and locals noticed the flashy green Peace Road shirts and waved to the participants. Some of them even took photos of the Unificationists as they continued to ride for peace. By riding the bicycles, participants –not only young people but also parents– were able to enjoy the wonderful weather and beautiful nature, while promoting peace and unity in the world.
SAN FRANCISCO
SACRAMENTO

The Sacramento Valley Family Church community gathered for a worship service and picnic at William Land Park in Sacramento to celebrate True Parents’ vision of the International Peace Highway. Pastor Charles de Wattteville read from several of True Father’s speeches about the International Peace Highway. 30 participants took turns riding the bicycles in a loop all around the vast park and lake, appreciating the beauty of God’s creation with God’s desire for peace in their heart.
