KEA SungHwa Workshop: Walking the Path of a True Child
From August 5 to 8, over 50 middle and high school aged Unificationists from all over the east coast gathered in North Haledon, NJ to learn how to apply the Divine Principle in their lives at the 2017 Korean Evangelical Association (KEA) SungHwa workshop. Participants were able to learn more about Korean culture in addition to receiving spiritual guidance based on the Divine Principle.
This year’s speakers included Jae Ki Lee, a PhD from Columbia University, Adelle Lykes, a graduate of Princeton University, Naokimi Ushiroda, a graduate of Wharton Business School and the National Director of Youth and Students Ministry, and Calvin Yoon, a founder of an international leadership organization.
The theme of this workshop was “The Path We Tread and The Path of a True Child” (우리가 가는 길, 참자녀의 길), emphasizing to the Unificationist-born youth that as children of God, we should all strive to become true children who practice have a heart of filial piety toward our parents, True Parents, and our Heavenly Parent. Second and third generation Unificationists who were on staff were very dedicated to creating a memorable experience for their fellow young brothers and sisters. Participants said, “This was the best workshop I have ever been to.” Another responded, “This church really is like a family.”
Christine Lee, the workshop coordinator reflected, “We are able to hold such a successful workshop because we have strong support from the KEA community; especially Rev. Lee, the staff, and the mothers.” She continued, “It was great to see the young adults want to create the greatest workshop experience for the younger generation.”
