Peace Starts With Me: From Curiosity to Rebirth
In the following testimony, Nadya Hinson, Chairwoman of Women’s Federation for World Peace (WFWP) in Columbus, OH, shares her experience attending “Peace Starts With Me” with one of her guests.
My guest had a wonderful time. I think she went from curious and intrigued to reborn. She had many direct questions about the Unification Movement and the history of True Parents. She asked why Christians and Koreans were so against the Unificationist Movement. We talked for a long while on that night bus ride to New York. Though we were freezing to death, we kept on reveling in our discovery of each other’s deep shared interest in science, religion and especially early Christianity.
Upon arriving in New York, we met the Takenakas in the lobby of the New Yorker Hotel. They let us store our luggage in their room so we could rush to the WFWP breakfast pre-event. It was amazing! The keynote speaker was the first woman and African American to be selected as the Ambassador of the America for working with International Faith Groups.
My guest was so tired that she was afraid she wouldn’t be able to stay awake to see True Mother speak. Of course, our WFWP members jumped together to find her a room where she could rest for a couple of hours. We are all sisters after all.
She clung very closely to the beautiful brochure that was on her seat as many of the seats didn’t have them. When we got back to the hotel room, she asked if True Mother’s speech would be available in English.
I can say for sure that my guest, after 20 years of loving the Bridge of Peace and WFWP, finally got to experience the deeper aspect of the work of the founders, True Parents. I am sure she will want to go to more events and experience the wonderful atmosphere. Also, working toward creating a forum in Columbus for a presentation including Dr. Yacoobi, winner of the Sunhak Peace Prize, and others like her is now something that my guest can embrace with fervor. She was a professor at Ohio State University and was the chair of several university committees for international cultural exchange. She was the United Nations representative in Columbus for years as well.
I know that our Heavenly Parent is so delighted that this wonderful woman, a very serious scientist, sees that the Creation is all about the Creator. She teaches this even now to seminary students that study biology with her. She wants very much to be invited to the next International Conference on the Unity of Science and Religion too.
