This Week on True Parents Way
Contributed by Dr. Tyler Hendricks
This week on True Parents Way we continue the blog series on True Family Values. The root problem of the human condition is not sex; it’s selfishness. Where do we learn to overcome selfishness? From our parents. But children learn by imitation. Just by being natural, parents are teaching and children are learning the fundamentals of life from birth. The amazing thing is, all parents want their children to be selfless. But, like it or not, children imitate their parents.
Our Tuesday video, Begotten of God, is about eternal life. Some religions believe that in God’s kingdom the saints will enjoy eternal physical life. Unificationists don’t believe that. Or do we? Divine Principle teaches that “Nothing material can live forever. Human beings are no exception; our bodies cannot live eternally.” And yet True Father intimated that something in the physical body never dies: “When God was creating human beings, into which part did He invest the greatest creative effort? The eyes? The nose? The heart? The brain? All of these organs eventually die, do they not?”
And in our Thursday podcast, A Mother’s Power, Pastor Ruth and Dr. Tyler share Rev. Moon’s teachings on Abraham’s four-generation family. We focus on Abraham, Sarah and Hagar, Isaac and Rebekah, Jacob, Leah and Rachel, and Judah and Tamar. These generations made the foundation for Jesus to be conceived in the womb of Mary. The Bible tells the story from the viewpoint of the men, but we provide True Father’s more balanced teaching that covers the role of the women such as Tamar and Mary, and share a contemporary interpretation from Galena Vromen on the mother’s power exercised by Sarah.
