Monthly Prayer Breakfast Calls for Unity
Contributed by Dr. Achille Acolatse
On May 13, 2017, the Washington Family Church held its fifth monthly prayer breakfast of the year. With the 19th Annual White House Prayer for Our Nation event coming up just six days later, the Unificationists in attendance sought to channel our Heavenly Parent’s deep heart for America through a series of hopeful prayers for each branch of the American government and for each of the 50 states.
Rev. Dr. Terry Lee, the founder of the Prayer for Our Nation event and the keynote speaker of the program, emphasized the continuous importance of unity at a time when the United States seems to be divided. God’s sincere heart for the unity of America was infused into the rest of the program, as award-winning international musician David Longoria performed beautiful renditions of “We Are One” and “I Surrender All” on his trumpet. The International Peace Academy of Washington, D.C. also continued this theme of unity and love, as they sang “Where Peace Begins” and “We are the World.” Overwhelmed with love, the audience responded with a standing ovation. Among those who prayed for America at this event were District 1 Pastor Rev. Ernest Patton, as well as District 1 ACLC Co-Chair, Rev. Randy Francis. This program was truly a promising preview of the Prayer for Our Nation event, in which the Washington Family Church would pray for the rest of America in front of the White House.
