Community Offers Prayers for America
Contributed by Dr. Achille Acolatse
On March 18, the Washington, D.C. Family Church held its third monthly breakfast to pray for the future of America. That Saturday morning, 17 Unificationists and their guests gathered in the D.C. church, where they sang songs of unity and prayed for God to guide the leaders of the United States.
After opening remarks by Dr. Achille Acolaste, co-pastor of the Washington, D.C. Family Church, District 1 Pastor Rev. Ernest Patton delivered an inspiring keynote address. He was followed by a testimony from Mrs. Tomiko Duggan, executive director of Universal Peace Federation (UPF) USA, about the power of prayer. Then, Rev. Jean-Pierre Sonna, Washington, D.C. co-pastor, read aloud selections from the Cheon Seong Gyeong on the themes of the nation and the world. The morning program ended with a candlelight service, a reading of the names of the 50 states and seven continents, and 12 minutes of unison prayer.
Dr. Acolaste began hosting monthly prayer breakfasts after True Mother’s December speech at the United States Senate, in which she expressed the responsibility of leaders to bring peace to the world. “God needs you,” she had said. “If parliamentarians of the world join together in harmony and cooperation for the sake of peace, we can transform the current reality of the world, creating a world of joy, harmony, and lasting peace.”
Attendees, all inspired by True Mother’s original message, reported that the spiritual atmosphere was very high at the March prayer breakfast, as everyone joined together to offer their sincere devotion for America’s future.
