CIG Missionaries: Cultivating a Child’s Heart
The Cheon Il Guk (CIG) Missionary Trainees had opportunities to cultivate a child’s heart this week through spending time with elderly Costa Ricans at a local senior citizens’ home and celebrating one another.

At the beginning of the week we had another “Héroes” event together with the Costa Rican Collegiate Association for the Research of Principles (CARP) chapter. Héroes is a youth program that promotes unity between Unification brothers and sisters and friends by encouraging them to share the love of God with one another.
Volunteering is a big part of Héroes, so occasionally we organize activities in orphanages, senior citizens’ homes and community cleaning activities. Last Sunday, we went to a senior citizens’ home with the purpose of inspiring young people to work for the good of others and contribute to the community while sharing as a family. We played Bingo with the seniors and were able to share love for them in ways that they don’t always experience.
Each missionary group performed an offering song or dance and together as CARP we sang the song “One Family Under God.” It was so amazing seeing our elders smile and laugh as throughout all our activities.
Thursday, March 23 to Friday, March 24
On Thursday and Friday, our CARP leader, Senor Manho Woo, took us out on a two-day outing to a hot springs in Alajuela, Costa Rica, which is about three hours away from our CARP center in San Jose. It was a time for us to relax and celebrate our hard work here so far. We bonded over movies, board games, and snacks. It was a great time to take out of our week to spend together as brothers and sisters having fun and recharging for the weeks to come.
