Happy Valentine’s Day from True Parents Way
Contributed by Tyler Hendricks
Our new blog series, “The Way of Blessed Families,” shares amazing teachings from True Father’s 1971 message to Korean church leaders, entitled “The Way Our Blessed Families Should Go.” In this talk, which True Father directed be translated and read by all Blessed couples, he explained why is it so necessary and natural to follow our parents, and yet so impossibly difficult; why the Messiah is the only man crazy enough to do what it takes to get his body to follow his mind, centered on God; and where the true woman, the Holy Spirit, fits into this. And that’s only in the first part of the speech!
Our Tuesday video continues our new series on national restoration. I share how we—and all faith traditions—can resolve the impasse between believing our religion is the only true way, and maintaining religious freedom in Cheon Il Guk, through the development of civil religion. The provisions of the Cheon Il Guk nation should be the universals of all religions upon which the Holy Marriage Blessing stands, namely, the commandments for sexual abstinence prior to marriage and fidelity in marriage. This is the essence of the civil religion that sustains national restoration.
And our Thursday podcast, “A Christian Subversive for Marriage,” is all about Valentine’s Day. The day commemorates the love of a Christian subversive for marriage, named Valentinus, and the blind Julia, daughter of his jailor. Valentinus had been jailed for being a Christian and marrying young men and women against the Emperor’s decree. His letter to Julia, on the eve of his execution, is the model Valentine’s Day card for us all. Our podcast includes music snippets from Ronin Hardiman, Eric Clapton, Jason Mraz and Brandon Heath.
