Sunday Service Serves as a Local Homecoming
On Sunday, November 6, 2016 the Philadelphia Family Church welcomed back Dr. Ki Hoon Kim, Continental Chairman of North America for Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU), who gave his first sermon to the community since he left his position as their district pastor in 1989.
It was a great homecoming day for Philadelphia, as they welcomed back their former pastor, as well as for Hans and Felicitas Moyer, a Unificationist couple who used to live with Dr. Kim at the church center.
Sixty Unificationists gathered to listen to Dr. Kim’s sermon. His message was simple yet deep: Unificationists, as couples who were married through the Marriage Blessing Ceremony, must become true parents. If they are to commit themselves to God and act as Tribal Messiahs, Dr. Kim continued, then God will absolutely, definitely help them.
Dr. Kim encouraged the community to have hope, saying that God is in fact anxiously waiting to help His and Her children. Shota Iwasaki, a longtime Unificationist of the Philadelphia community and its current pastor, called Dr. Kim’s return “a historic day.” Although the former pastor lived in the Philadelphia Family Church for just half a year, he assuredly left his imprint on the community as his heart for God continues to be felt today.
