Tough Questions and Positive Politics

This week’s tough questions on True Parents Way have to do with elections and lineage. The West once believed that the king’s lineage was “the elect,” the decision of God. Now, we believe that the king is determined by “the election,” the decision of the people.

True Father said that in God’s Kingdom, we will have elections different than we do now. So what does the Cheon Il Guk Constitution’s chapter on elections say? Why does it say that all citizens have the right to vote? True Father said we don’t elect our parents. Is there an elect lineage in Cheon Il Guk?

We’ll talk about these things this week, as well as some action steps: How does the Constitution propose that we get to the ideal world from where we are today? Are we in Cheon Il Guk now, even a little bit? When do we know we are there?

Positive Politics

Elections in this world are “win-lose.” Wouldn’t Heavenly Parents want to have leadership determined in a “win-win” process?

What is “positive politics”? Well, as “positive psychology” moves the spotlight from what makes human beings mentally ill to what makes us mentally wonderful, positive politics moves the spotlight from how bad the other party is to what is great about it. Different perspectives are not enemies. In the age after the coming of Heaven, positive-negative is not good-evil; it is husband-wife.
